Couple wears wire to nab murder suspect

CHICAGO, July 23 (UPI) -- A suburban Chicago couple said they recorded conversations with suspect Drew Peterson whose third wife's death was ruled a homicide and fourth wife is missing.

Len Wawczak and his wife, Paula Stark, said they wore a wire for seven months to help state police in the investigation of Stacy Peterson's disappearance and Kathleen Savio's death, the Chicago Sun-Times News Group reported Wednesday.

Peterson has been named a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife who vanished last October.

That case prompted police to exhume the body of Savio, whose bathtub drowning initially was ruled an accident.

Wawczak and Stark said during the seven months they taped conversations Peterson called investigators "idiots" and said he should have had his third cremated.

They say they expect the information they gave to police will lead to their former friend's arrest.
