JERUSALEM, July 22 (UPI) -- Israel's intelligence chief says Hamas has taken advantage of a cease-fire agreement to plant land mines across large areas of Gaza.
Yuval Diskin, head of the Shin Bet security agency, told a Knesset committee Tuesday that the Palestinian militant group also possesses rockets that can reach further inside Israel, possibly as far as Kiryat Gat and Ashdod, the Jerusalem Post reported.
At the hearing, Diskin said arms-smuggling into Gaza by Hamas has continued unabated during the cease-fire with no apparent decrease in the amount of weaponry regularly being brought into the territory.
