VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 22 (UPI) -- The first of five feet found washed up on Canada's west coast in the past year has been identified but police aren't releasing the male owner's name.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokeswoman Constable Annie Linteau said the British Columbia Coroners Service had determined the identit, but was withholding the name at his family's request, The Province newspaper in Vancouver reported Tuesday.
She said he was a resident of the province who disappeared.
"He was emotionally distressed or in emotional distress," Linteau said. "We have no information to suggest that foul play is involved."
The right foot was found last August in a Campus brand running shoe on an island off the mainland, the report said.
As for the other four, no identities have been determined but earlier this month police said DNA indicated two of them were from the same person.
