KAWAGUCHI, Japan, July 20 (UPI) -- A 15-year-old Japanese girl was taken into police custody as a suspect in the fatal stabbing of her father, authorities said.

Police said the girl was arrested Saturday and confessed to attacking her father, 46, with a knife at their home in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, Kyodo News Agency reported Sunday.

The suspect told authorities she had limited verbal communication with her father for an extended period of time. She said her parents had asked her to do school work, but she did not want to.

Police said they discovered the bloodied man in a bedroom after they were called to the family's home Saturday.

He died after police found him, Kyodo said.
