SWANSEA, Wales, July 19 (UPI) -- A 13-month-old Welsh boy died after a television fell on top of him, police say.

Police investigators in Swansea said Ghazi Riyaz Mohammed apparently was fatally injured Thursday when he opened a drawer on a piece of furniture holding the TV and the set fell on him, the BBC reported Saturday.

The child was rushed to a hospital following and had brain surgery, but died six hours later.

Police do not suspect any "suspicious" behavior in the accident, but a South Wales police spokesman said a thorough investigation was under way.

"Officers are aware of the tragic incident and at present we are investigating the circumstances around it," the unidentified official said. "The death is not being treated as suspicious."

Arfryn Primary School head teacher Clare Gay, who teaches the infant's older brother and sister, said the death had devastated the child's "lovely" family.

"The children are delightful -- they are a really lovely family," Gay told the BBC. "Everyone is really upset about what has happened."
