CHICAGO, July 19 (UPI) -- A flight attendant was injured when a Mexicana airliner ran off the end of a runway at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, federal officials said.

The incident involving a Mexicana Airlines craft happened around 7 p.m. Friday evening, the Chicago Tribune reported Saturday. Federal Aviation Administration authorities said the plane ran past the end of a runway and was stopped by a bed of crushable concrete blocks.

The 142 passengers were taken off the plane and the runway was closed, the newspaper said.
