KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, July 19 (UPI) -- The director of Hospital Kuala Lumpur said Saturday that Malaysian opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's "decency" was not violated by a medical exam.
Dr. Zaininah Mohd Zain said while allegations had been made that the People's Justice Party adviser had been victimized during his examination, Anwar Ibrahim was never violated and had given his permission for the exam, The Star (Malaysia) reported.
"Only after having obtained his written consent did they proceed with the examination," Zain said.
"He was then examined by the two specialists who adhered to proper clinical procedures during the whole course of the examination. At no time throughout the examination was his decency violated."
Anwar had the tests after being arrested as a suspect in a sodomy case.
Malaysian Prime Minster Abdullah Ahmad Badawi also dismissed such victimization claims, saying the media had blown the allegations out of proportion.
"They say his sodomy allegation is something like that that had happened before. If one wants to believe, how can we control such things?" Badawi said.
