CAIRO, July 16 (UPI) -- The Egyptian government, stung by an Iranian documentary on the assassination of Anwar Sadat, is sponsoring a movie criticizing Ayatollah Khomeini.

Mohamed Hassan Al-AlfI, the editor of the official newspaper of the ruling National Democratic Party in Egypt, told Al Arabiya that he is writing the script for "Khomeini: Imam of Blood." He said the movie is to be directed by Mohamed Fadel, a well-known Egyptian director.

The Iranian documentary film, "Death of a Pharoah," depicted late Egyptian President Sadat as a tyrant killed by a martyr in 1981 because he signed the Camp David Accords with Israel in 1979. It was shown on television in Iran.

AlfI said that "Khomeini" will show how the ayatollah's ideas contributed to Sadat's assassination and how he threatened Egyptian security. "The movie will show that Khomeini was not an imam of the Muslim faith that promotes peace and condemns violence, but was rather an imam of blood," Alfi said.
