Quake strikes near Greek islands; 1 dead

ATHENS, Greece, July 15 (UPI) -- One person was reported dead after an earthquake struck Tuesday near a chain of Greek islands, the U.S. Geological Service reported.

The USGS said the quake, registering 6.4 on the Richter scale, hit about 40 miles southwest of the Dodecanese Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, CNN reported.

A Rhodes city police spokesman a 56-year-old woman died of injuries she received when she fell trying to get out of her house, CNN reported.
