Nazi doctor said likely in Chile

SANTIAGO, Chile, July 15 (UPI) -- A former SS physician accused of killing hundreds of inmates at a concentration camp in Austria is likely living in Chile, Israeli officials said.

Aribert Heim, 94, charged with killings at the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria, is believed to be hiding in Chile, according to Efraim Zuroff, a director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, The Jerusalem Post reported Tuesday.

Heim is thought to have fled Germany for South America is 1962.

The German and Austrian governments along with the Wiesenthal Center are offering a reward of $500,000 for information leading to Heim's arrest and prosecution.
