Woman backs over, kills frail mother

TORONTO, July 14 (UPI) -- A frail 87-year-old woman was accidentally killed by her daughter in Toronto when the mother slipped and fell as her daughter was backing up her car.

The accident happened in the driveway of the daughter's home as the elderly woman waited for the car, police said.

"The daughter was backing out the car and didn't notice that her mother had fallen. She felt the bump and immediately called 911," police Sgt. Tim Burrows told the Toronto Sun.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene due to massive injuries, the report said.

Burrows said the name of the victim and her family wouldn't be released because of the "absolute tragic circumstances" and said there is "nothing to indicate any criminal intent."
