Driver hits, kills 2 during police chase

HOLLYWOOD, July 14 (UPI) -- Part of Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angels was shut down as officials examined the area where a driver hit and killed two people while being chased by police.

Officer Karen Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department said the motorist was being chased by police late Sunday for reckless driving when he hit the pedestrians, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Officials said the driver was transported to a medical center before being arrested.

The victims, a man and woman age approximately 35-40, died before being taken to a hospital, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies said.
