Cubs stars visit boy injured by foul ball

CHICAGO, July 13 (UPI) -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly and first baseman Derrek Lee visited a boy injured by a foul ball at Wrigley Field, the boy's father said.

Lilly, who hit the foul ball that struck 7-year-old Dominic DiAngi in the head, said he and Lee brought along a Cubs jersey for the young fan on their visit, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday.

"I saw him. It was great," Lilly said of Saturday's visit.

DiAngi was taken out of the intensive care unit Saturday after doctors determined he was recuperating from the fractured skull and swelling in the brain he suffered after being hit during Thursday's game.

Doctors say the child, who had been attending his first Cubs game, could be back home by next week.

His father, Peter, told the Sun-Times his family was appreciative of the major league players' visit and other gifts from the Cubs organization during his son's recovery.

"I think it's great they did that and that they're worrying about Dominic," the elder DiAngi said. "It means a lot."
