TARIN KOWT, Afghanistan, July 13 (UPI) -- A pair of suicide bombings killed at least 25 people in Afghanistan Sunday, officials said.
The country's Defense Ministry said 21 people, many of them children, were killed and 43 wounded when a motorcycle-riding suicide bomber detonated his charge in southern Afghanistan.
Few other details were immediately available about the blast in Tarin Kowt, CNN reported. No group had yet claimed responsibility for the blast but the Taliban are known to be active in the area.
The bombing was the second suicide blast of the day. Earlier, officials said a teenage bomber blew himself up outside an Afghan army camp in the Marja district of restive Helmand province, killing four people.
The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force said a soldier discovered the teen's explosives-laden vest while searching him, but it detonated immediately afterward. CNN said the blast killed the teen and two soldiers, while a child later died of his injuries.
