MOSCOW, July 12 (UPI) -- A plan to fight corruption in the Russian judiciary and prison systems is close to being signed into law, President Dmitry Medvedev said Saturday.

Medvedev told parliamentary leaders the long-anticipated anti-corruption legislation has been drafted and is about to be introduced, RIA Novosti reported.

"A national plan has been drawn up, and only a few minor points remain -- I will sign it in the near future," the president said, predicting the laws should be passed by the end of this year.

The Russian news service said the judicial and penal reforms were negotiated with Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov.
