CHICAGO, July 12 (UPI) -- A Whole Foods supermarket in Chicago remained closed after city health inspectors again found mouse droppings and a dead mouse, officials said.

The chain's supermarket in the upscale Lincoln Park neighborhood as closed Wednesday after inspectors from the Chicago Department of Public Health found mouse feces and a dead mouse in a trap, The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday.

Health inspectors reported finding more than 100 mouse droppings in one walk-in cooler alone. On Friday, inspectors also found a a dead mouse in a conventional trap beneath a cooler.

The store had been expected to reopen Friday but will remained closed until it passes a re-inspection, the city said.

The market "clearly still has an infestation," said Tim Hadac, a Chicago Health Department spokesman. "Their failure surprised and disappointed us."

Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods is a natural- and organic-foods retailer with more than 270 stores. The Chicago Health Department inspects all supermarkets in the city once a year.
