WASHINGTON, July 12 (UPI) -- An annual physical examination of U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney turned up no problems, the official's spokeswoman said.

Spokeswoman Megan Mitchell said while Cheney has had several heart ailments since he was 37, the 67-year-old's cardiac situation currently is stable, CNN reported Saturday.

In addition, physicians found no sign of the irregular heart beat detected in November 2007. The health issue was later identified as atrial fibrillation, CNN said.

The examination at Washington's George Washington University Hospital also included an electrocardiogram and medical imaging to determine the condition of tubes inserted in some of Cheney's arteries during a 2005 surgery.

CNN said the successful examination means Cheney can resume his normal schedule as vice president.
