NEW YORK, July 11 (UPI) -- Forbes.com has ranked San Francisco as the best U.S. city for young professions, while previous top city New York fell to fourth place amid Wall Street woes.

The Web site said San Francisco -- which came in second to New York in 2007 -- topped the list after it attracted the highest number of graduates from highly-ranked schools and offered a large amount of high-salaried positions in large and small businesses in the past year, Forbes reported Friday.

Ranked second on the list was Boston, which Forbes cited for its successful bioengineering sector. Houston was third, with its strong presence of successful energy companies.

They rests of the top 10: Minneapolis; Washington; Chicago; Charlotte, N.C.; Milwaukee; and Austin, Texas.
