Killer leads cops to girl's remains

DETROIT, July 10 (UPI) -- Relatives of a Michigan teen who disappeared 22 years ago said they finally have some closure after her killer led police to what they think are her remains.

Arthur Ream, 59, who is convicted of killing Cindy Zarzycki, 13, led authorities to where he said he buried her body after she went missing April 1986, the Detroit News reported Thursday.

"This gives us some closure," Cindy's sister, Connie Johnson said, adding that now "she'll be able to rest in peace."

Remains were found about five hours into the Wednesday search in Macomb Township, Mich., officials said.

Eastpointe Police Inspector John Calabrese said the remains will be examined for identification purposes at the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.

A jury decided June 18 Cindy was dead, not missing, when Ream was convicted of abducting and killing her.

He is jailed at the West Shoreline Correctional Facility in Muskegon County for a separate molestation charge and is to be given a mandatory life in prison sentence for Cindy's death July 22, the Detroit News said.
