HALMSTAD, Sweden, July 10 (UPI) -- Officials said they are investigating how a human foot in a man's shoe ended up on a beach in southern Sweden.
The foot was found Tuesday on the shore in Tylosand in Halmstad, Sweden, the Swedish News Agency TT reported.
Experts were preparing to run forensic tests on the foot in a laboratory outside Lund, Sweden, the agency said.
Authorities plan to investigate whether the foot matches the DNA of individuals who have disappeared in the region, Halland County police spokesman Joakim Sjolander said.
"We do not currently suspect a crime has been committed," he told the agency.
Sjolander said it was "far too early" to say whether the foot is related to six other feet found on Canada's Pacific coast.
