Woman charged with killing husband in 1985

HOUSTON, July 9 (UPI) -- A woman who worked for 11 years for the Houston Police Department and has two police officer sons has been charged with killing her husband in 1985.

Carolyn Sue McCaleb, who now uses the last name Krizan-Wilson, appeared in court early Wednesday, KPRC-TV reported.

In 1985, Krizan-Wilson told police that a barefoot intruder broke into her house, raped her and shot her husband, Roy McCaleb, dead, the Houston Chronicle said. She claimed the same man had raped her a week earlier after forcing his way into her car but that she did not report the attack because she was too distraught.

Her two sons, Greg Krizan, who retired recently as a Houston police department lieutenant, and Robert Krizan, a sergeant, both say they believe their mother's story. But Pam Nalley, McCaleb's daughter by a previous marriage, told the newspaper she always believed that Krizan-Wilson killed her father after taking out a life insurance policy on him.

"I've never believed her," Nalley said. "It didn't make sense. She said the door opened and this grimy guy, who was barefoot but had the sense to wear gloves, walked in."
