NEW YORK, July 7 (UPI) -- A woman from a Muslim family in New York is suing a doctor and medical center, claiming her genitals were publicly exposed during an exam, her lawyer said.
Nina Kraja said she was in the middle of a gynecological exam when Dr. Peter Darr allegedly threw the door open, leaving her in view of people in the waiting room, the New York Post reported Monday.
Kraja is seeking unspecified damages for "psychological trauma" in a suit against Darr and Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx Supreme Court, the newspaper said.
"He came barreling in and held the door open, all while she is in the stirrups. Her genitals were pointing toward the door," Kraja's lawyer, James Moran, said.
Moran said the event was particularly traumatic for his client because of her religious background.
"She comes from a conservative Muslim family, and it sort of hit her hard. Talk about your compromising positions," he added.
