LONDON, July 7 (UPI) -- A man suspected in the slayings of two French students in London turned himself in Monday and was taken to a hospital for undisclosed reasons, police said.
The 33-year-old man, who showed up at a South London police station, is a suspect in the stabbing deaths of Gabriel Ferez and Laurent Bonomo, both 23, who were killed while in Britain for a three-month research project at Imperial College London, The Times of London reported.
Metropolitan police would not comment on why he was hospitalized, the British newspaper said.
The victims' burned bodies were found by firefighters after an explosion at their apartment late last month. They had been bound, gagged and stabbed hundreds of times, authorities said.
Investigators arrested a 21-year-old man Saturday but released him without charges. On Sunday, police released a description of a 30- to 40-year-old man seen fleeing the scene.
