TOLEDO, Ohio, July 5 (UPI) -- A fire that gutted 11 buildings in an Ohio apartment complex early Saturday is believed to have been started by July Fourth fireworks.
More than 100 people were left homeless, The Toledo Blade reported, and damage was estimated at $5 million, but no injuries were reported.
Officials said the fire was reported at 1:30 a.m. at Hunters Ridge in South Toledo. Flames spread quickly through the complex.
By the time the fire was under control at 5:30 a.m., most of the complex was a total loss. The ruins continued to smolder through the day as demolition crews began their work.
