Baby born to 'dad' home from hospital

BEND, Ore., July 3 (UPI) -- A source who got a look at the new baby born to a transgender man in Oregon told ABC News Thursday that the bundle of joy was "really pretty."

"She's really cute, really pretty,'' the source said, adding that proud parents Thomas and Nancy Beatie remained at home resting and getting acquainted with the newborn girl.

The story of the world's first pregnant man culminated last Sunday when Thomas gave birth naturally at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

Thomas, 34, was born female and underwent a sex-change operation that left her reproductive organs intact. Insemination was performed artificially.

ABC said the couple was seen leaving the hospital in apparent good health, although he appeared tired and let a nurse carry the baby for him.
