WASHINGTON, July 2 (UPI) -- A poll says concern about terrorism has hit a low in the United States since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The latest CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey indicates 35 percent of people asked said they believe a terrorist attack is likely over the next several weeks, CNN reported Wednesday.
The figure is the lowest since CNN began polling on the subject following the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in which some 3,000 people were killed.
The new poll also found the war in Iraq remains extremely unpopular with 68 percent of respondents expressing their opposition to it. One-third of voters polled indicated they would like to see the next president keep the same number of U.S. troops in Iraq that are stationed there.
The CNN/ Opinion Research Corp. poll surveyed 906 registered voters and carries a sampling error of 3.5 percentage points. It was conducted June 26-29.
