Calif. man charged with cat torture

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., July 2 (UPI) -- Police investigators have charged a homeless California man with animal abuse, alleging he soaked a live cat in gasoline and lit it on fire.

Timothy Kooyman, 24, was also accused by police in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., of engaging in other cat torture. They said they found two live but mutilated cats inside a storage bin in his car, the Inland Valley (Calif.) Daily Bulletin reported Wednesday.

Those cats had broken legs and their tails were cut off, police said. Kooyman was set to arraigned on animal abuse charges July 15,
