McCain pulls Web ads from anti-Obama sites

WASHINGTON, July 1 (UPI) -- Republican U.S. presidential hopeful John McCain will stop advertising on Web sites that have vilified his Democratic rival, the McCain campaign said.

Some of the Web sites have called Democrat Barack Obama unpatriotic and, in one case, compared the Illinois senator to Adolf Hitler, CNN reported Tuesday.

The McCain campaign also said it was previously unaware that its Internet ads were also appearing on sites supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton, the New York senator who recently exited the Democratic White House race.

"When we find stuff like this, we take care of it," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said.

McCain's Web ads have also shown up on a pro-Clinton Web site named "Obama WTF" that accuses Obama of being "spineless," having "communist influences," "courting Jew haters" and being "in the pocket of America haters."

SavagePolitics.com, another anti-Obama site that has run McCain ads, has called Obama a "bold-faced liar, a thief, a sexist and a racist," CNN reported.
