Sudan cargo plane crash kills four

KHARTOUM, Sudan, June 30 (UPI) -- Sudanese officials say a cargo plane crashed Monday at the Khartoum Airport, killing four crew members.

The plane, described as an Ilyushin 76, had been chartered by a private company, the Sudan Tribune reported. A witness told the newspaper it hit a utility pole during takeoff, caught fire and crashed.

Authorities said the plane was scheduled to go from Khartoum to Juba in the country's Darfur region. It was the second cargo plane crash in Sudan since Friday, when an An-12 aircraft crashed near Malakai, killing seven crew members, the newspaper said.
