Shoppers criticize new milk jugs

NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Redesigned milk jugs sold at two major U.S. food stores cost less to ship and are better for the environment, but many shoppers complain they are hard to pour.

Some shoppers say the new shape of the containers sold at Wal-Mart and Costco makes the basic act of pouring milk a challenge, The New York Times reported Monday.

"I hate it," cafe owner Lisa DeHoff said.

Retailers have said customer complaints will not be enough to get the new jugs off shelves because they come with so many benefits.

The Times said the new jugs keep milk fresher during shipping and are less expensive for consumers.

The new jugs are a sign of the times and are paving the way for many changes to be expected in the U.S. economy in the next 20 years, experts say.
