Senator McCain campaigns in Denver

DETROIT, June 30 (UPI) -- The brother of primary rival Mitt Romney is among those rallying around presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Scott Romney, an attorney with a prominent Detroit law firm, says he was disappointed his brother was forced to pull out of the race but thought it was important to lend his support to McCain, The Detroit Free Press reported Monday.

"We got close and had a real good shot at it, but on the other hand, we looked very carefully at the situation in the world and thought it was very important that we rally around Senator McCain," Scott Romney said.

Records kept by the Federal Election Commission show at least 100 residents of Michigan have given money to both Mitt Romney and John McCain.

However, most of the McCain supporters donated to the Arizona senator after Romney dropped out of the race Feb. 7.
