GROZNY, Russia, June 29 (UPI) -- Russian officials say three police officers and three civilians were killed Sunday in two separate clashes with militants in the republic of Chechnya.

In the first incident, a police officer and a civilian were killed when suspected militants opened fire on a police station in a village in Chechnya's Vedeno district early Sunday, RIA Novosti reported.

And in a separate attack in the republic's Shatoi district, another two police officers and two civilians were ambushed and killed in a forest near the village of Roshni-Chu, officials said.
