Girl allegedly stabbed over MySpace change

DOVER, N.J., June 27 (UPI) -- A young New Jersey woman was charged Thursday with stabbing her boyfriend's niece because the 12-year-old erased a comment on her MySpace page.

Police in Dover say Stephanie Torres, 18, stabbed the younger girl in the home they shared, the Star-Ledger of Newark reported. Torres lived with her boyfriend, his mother and other relatives.

Relatives say Torres became furious at something the 12-year-old did and used a knife that hung from a chain around her neck to stab her three times.

Torres grabbed her pet pit bull, ran from the house and drove off. She was pulled over by a police officer in Wharton about an hour later.

The 12-year-old was reported to be in stable condition at a hospital.

"I saw everything soaked with blood," Luz Benitez, the girl's grandmother, said. "I don't understand how such an ugly thing could have happened."
