Bulgaria nabs Iraqi, Palestinian migrants

SOFIA, Bulgaria, June 27 (UPI) -- Bulgarian border police report catching five Iraqis and two Palestinians trying to sneak into the country.

The five Iraqi citizens, four women and one man, were detained Thursday at the Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint at the Bulgaria-Turkey border after they had crossed the Maritsa River, the Sofia news agency reported.

Meanwhile, two Palestinian citizens were detained at the Kulata Checkpoint at the Bulgarian-Greek border as they were trying to cross into Bulgaria in the trunk of a car.

The illegal immigrants were sent to refugee centers.
