SDEROT, Israel, June 26 (UPI) -- A Qassam rocket was fired Thursday from the Gaza Strip into Israel's Western Negev desert in another violation of the cease-fire, officials say.

The missile exploded in an open area in Sderot's industrial zone. There were no reports of injuries or damage. The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing, took responsibility for firing, Ynetnews reported.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak instructed the defense establishment to keep the crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip closed until further notice.

Earlier Thursday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that Israel's "continued blockade on the Strip constitutes a violation of the truce agreement."
