NEW YORK, June 26 (UPI) -- Three Muslim men suspected of conspiring to blow up John F. Kennedy International Airport have pleaded innocent to the charges in New York.
During their appearance in federal court after being extradited from Trinidad and Tobago Wednesday, Abdul Kadir, Kareem Ibrahim and Abdel Nur answered only "Yes, ma'am" in response to questions put to them by Magistrate Judge Cheryl Pollak, The New York Sun reported. Their attorneys entered not guilty pleas on their behalf, the newspaper said.
The trio -- two of whom are from Guyana -- and a retired cargo worker from Brooklyn are charged with plotting to detonate fuel tanks and pipelines at the New York airport last year.
The alleged would-be terrorists, all in the 50s or 60s, were in the preliminary stages of their planning, prosecutors maintain.
