JERUSALEM, June 19 (UPI) -- Four Israeli police officers and 11 settlers were injured Thursday in clashes in the West Bank when security forces said they discovered two illegal outposts.
The outposts were discovered near the Yitzhar settlement, where police were sent to post evacuation orders and demolish a caravan near the illegal outpost of Havat Shaked, Haaretz reported.
Several settlers were reportedly arrested after they locked police officers in the settlement, Harretz said. Besides closing the settlement's gate, the residents slashed the tires of the police officers' vehicles to prevent their exit.
Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said Israeli military and police intended to demolish six caravans in the illegal outpost of Bracha A, near Yitzhar. He said issues about the outpost have been discussed "several times in legal proceedings and therefore the state is determined to demolish it."
