Barack Obama delivers election night remarks in Raleigh

NEW YORK, June 18 (UPI) -- Michelle Obama, the wife of presumptive Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Barack Obama, says she won't have any input into the selection of a running mate.

In an appearance on ABC's "The View," Obama was asked about her husband's choice of running mate.

"The one thing the nominee earns is the right to pick the vice president that best reflects his vision of the country and I will have nothing to do with it," Obama said when asked if she will have any influence on the selection.

Obama said she always thought her husband, the junior senator from Illinois, is much too empathetic to be a politician.

"I did not want Barack to go into politics," she said. "Politics is a mean business."
