ATLANTA, June 18 (UPI) -- A Georgia man has been accused of making a violent series of videos showing a young girl being attacked.
James Bartholomew "Bart" Huskey, 38, of Lafayette was arrested Tuesday after a worldwide manhunt that began two years ago in Australia, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. He allegedly created what became known as the "Tara" series and shared them with an international group on the Web, using passwords and encryption to avoid detection.
U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said Huskey raped a girl who is now 9, starting when she was 5. He allegedly used computer technology to disguise his own features but showed the child and her fear clearly.
The final image police have found, posted in November, showed a large knife held against the girl.
"They got progressively more disturbing over time," Nahmias said.
The investigation began with a tip from police in Brisbane, Australia. They said they had been investigating a group of child pornography users there and had found evidence that the leader might be in the United States.
