Sri Lanka destroys Tamil command post

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, June 15 (UPI) -- Sri Lankan armed forces bombed and destroyed a key Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam command center Sunday, military officials said.

The country's air force used fighter jets to destroy what it called a combat logistics facility in the rebel-held Mullaitivu district in the northern part of the island, the Indo-Asian News Service reported. It quoted a Sri Lankan defense ministry spokesman saying the facility was an important one that also contained a large fuel dump, which exploded as the bombs were dropped.
