MCHENRY, Ill., June 15 (UPI) -- A hot tub at a hotel in McHenry, Ill., has been linked to a third case of Legionnaires' disease, local health officials say.
McHenry County Department of Health official Joseph Gugle said Saturday all three cases involved people contracting the bacterial infection due to a hot tub at a Hampton Inn in McHenry, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The individuals were either near the hot tub or using the motorized bath when they contracted the infection sometime between May 9 and June 4, Gugle said.
The Tribune said common bacteria can lead to Legionnaires' disease and the infection is spread through the inhalation of an infected vapor mist. Symptoms include fever, chills, coughing, headaches and muscle aches, the newspaper reported.
