About 1,200 rescue workers were searching for 13 people reported missing, including a construction worker feared trapped in an area made inaccessible because of the mudslide danger. Two others died at the construction site.

Japanese disaster officials said about 200 people were injured in the temblor centered near Sendai, Japan, about 215 miles north of Tokyo. Transportation officials said normal operations of the bullet trains through the region were restored Sunday morning.
