WASHINGTON, June 15 (UPI) -- Former Democratic U.S. vice presidential candidate John Edwards said Sunday he would consider the same role again if asked by Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
Edwards, whose 2004 bid for the White House with Sen. John Kerry was unsuccessful, said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that he would "take anything" Obama asked him to consider.
"I'd take anything he (Obama) asked me to think about seriously," Edwards said of the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
"But obviously this is something I've done and it's not a job that I'm seeking."
The former North Carolina senator also said he was confident Obama would consider all possibilities before making a final decision on a running mate for the general election.
"Senator Obama ... has earned the right to make this decision for himself. I think he has enormous choices available to him, really great choices available to him," Edwards said. "And I think he'll go through this process in a thoughtful, orderly way, and he'll decide who he wants to be his running mate."
