LONDON, June 15 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush has recruited British special forces in a final effort to find Osama bin Laden as his presidency approaches its end, officials say.

U.S. and British military officials said they have revived the search for bin Laden, who is credited with heading the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, The Sunday Times of London reported.

"If he (Bush) can say he has killed Saddam Hussein and captured bin Laden, he can claim to have left the world a safer place," a U.S. intelligence source said.

Bush left Paris Sunday to visit Britain in the last stretch of his eight-day European tour.

He is expected to meet with Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Gordon Brown before leaving for Northern Ireland, the Times said.
