SACRAMENTO, June 11 (UPI) -- Fast-moving wildfires destroyed dozens of homes in northern California Tuesday, authorities said.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and many residents had to flee when the Stockton brush fire, fanned by high winds, produced flames three stories high, KOVR-TV in Sacramento reported. The Stockton fire, which consumed at least 32 homes, broke out just after 11 a.m. near Interstate 5, the TV station said.

Another wildfire that burned through thousands of acres south of Sacramento and threatened an equestrian center and several homes.

Two other fires near Oroville blackened more than 1,200 acres and destroying at least 49 structures. That fire was only 10 percent contained, and hundreds of residents had been evacuated.

Still more fires that scorched up to 1,200 acres, forced more evacuations, and destroyed or threatened numerous homes were reported near Blackstone in El Dorado County, Natomas, Lake Camanche in Amador County, Lake Don Pedro in Tuolumne County, Cloverdale in Sonoma County, Roseville and Vacaville.
