Woman who killed for unborn baby gets life

BELLEVILLE, Ill., June 10 (UPI) -- Tiffany Hall said she knew she would never get out of an Illinois prison after being sentenced to life for killing a pregnant friend to take her unborn baby.

Hall, who suffers from mental illness, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to four counts of murder and one count of intentional homicide in the deaths of Jimella Tunstall, her fetus, and her other three children.

"I will never get out," Hall said softly after St. Clair County Circuit Judge Milton Wharton asked during the hearing if she understood the magnitude of the sentence, the Belleville (Ill.) News-Democrat reported.

Hall pleaded guilty to avoid execution in the case. Hall was charged with clubbing Tunstall over the head in 2006 and then cutting out the unborn baby girl, who was stillborn. She then drowned Tunstall's three living children before telling Illinois State Police she had given birth to the stillborn child after being raped.
