Five of six missing sailors found

MATAGORDA, Texas, June 8 (UPI) -- Five members of a Texas college sailboat crew were recovering Sunday after being rescued by helicopter from their disabled craft in the Gulf of Mexico.

CNN reported, however, a sixth member of the Texas A&M University sailboat crew was still missing and an active search was ongoing Sunday. U.S. Coast Guard officials told the network a 38-foot sailboat matching the description of the missing vessel was found Saturday evening overturned in the gulf and the crew members were immediately flown to shore for treatment.

The conditions of the rescued crew members were not immediately released. The search was conducted an area about 10 miles south of Matagorda, Texas.

The students were identified by the Galveston (Texas) Daily News as Ross Busby, 22; Joseph Savana, 18; Steven Guy, 20; Travis Wright, 22; and Steven Conway and Roger Stone, ages unavailable. Officials didn't say which of the sailors remained missing.

The newspaper said the sailboat was part of the Regata de Amigos, a race from Texas to Veracruz, Mexico.
