BENI AMRANE, Algeria, June 8 (UPI) -- Two bombs exploded minutes apart at a train station in Beni Amrane, Algeria, Sunday, killing at least 12 people, authorities said.

The first blast took the lives of a Frenchman and his Algerian driver as they were leaving the station and the second was detonated as rescue workers arrived at the scene, the BBC reported. No one had claimed responsibility for the attack, the British network said.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner issued a statement condemning the attack, saying he felt "disgust" for the perpetrators of "this blind terrorist violence."

Three employees of the company that employed the slain French citizen were wounded by a bomb attack last September, which was claimed by the al-Qaida in Islamic North Africa group, the BBC said.
