Israel-Palestinian peace talks continue

JERUSALEM, June 7 (UPI) -- Officials in Jerusalem say Israel has started constructing a peace deal with the Palestinian Authority.

The officials made a point of saying negotiations for the peace agreement have yet to reach a point where a final plan can be drafted, Ynetnews reported Saturday.

"While there are points of consent on minor issues, there is still a complex disparity when it comes to the core issues. The stage of drawing up an agreement is still far away. The efforts continue and there is much work ahead of us," an official said.

Members of Knesset criticized Palestinian Authority negotiator Ahmed Qureia for claims he made Friday that Israel and the Palestinians were ready to start drawing up a final agreement.

"If what Qureia said regarding the drafting of a peace agreement is correct, it should be made clear that the next government will not recognize that document," Yisrael Beiteinu party leader Avigdor Lieberman said.
