Edwards denies interest in vice presidency

MADRID, June 6 (UPI) -- Former U.S. senator and presidential hopeful John Edwards said he will not be Sen. Barack Obama's running mate for the White House.

When asked if he would join Obama on the Democratic ticket, the former North Carolina senator said he "won't do it again," Spain's El Mundo newspaper reported, a reference to his unsuccessful bid in 2004 alongside Democratic presidential contender Sen. John Kerry.

Edwards, a candidate for the Democratic nomination in this year's presidential race until dropping out, is in Europe where he met Friday with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
